If you want to feel more confident in your appearance, need to get in better shape, or just a general overall health boost, you have to add exercise to your fitness routine. We all know that time is tight for a lot of people. Busy work schedule, kids, spouse etc so it is super important to find the most efficient way to tone muscle, lose weight and while having fun. Here are 5 of the 100s of reasons to incorporate Brazilian jiu jitsu, or BJJ, and Muay Thai kickboxing into your fitness routine to get into the best shape of your life whether your an 8 year old kid, or an 80 year old adult!

Full Body Workout in 60 Minutes

It doesn’t take long to be sweating, breathing heavy in a class at Rogue Combat Club. Muay Thai and BJJ are excellent ways to get a full body workout in just a short time. You will feel the benefits of resistance training to tone muscles, and the cardio benefits of the amazing workouts. Pushing, pulling, punching and kicking, are the best ways to get a great workout in a short time. Plus another benefit is a great workout partner!

Self Confidence

While this isn’t exactly a workout benefit, any kind of MMA training it will help with your confidence. BJJ, Muay Thai, boxing, or kickboxing are excellent ways to get in shape, while building self confidence, by safely putting you just outside of your comfort zone. These weekly challenges will build your mind and spirit! Confidence leads to so many other mental benefits, it is hard to overlook the value in training.

Long Lasting Results

One of the biggest benefits of training MMA, BJJ or Muay Thai is that it will help you STAY fit! Yes the gym is cool for a while, but it very rarely has the “hook” BJJ or Muay Thai do. You can’t get better at MMA doing other things, so the best way to get better at BJJ or Muay Thai is…. More BJJ and Muay Thai! The target is constantly changing and moving. At first it may be “make it through all of the warm ups.” Then it may be something like “be able to go 3 rounds without stopping,” or “improve my check and returns or arm bars,” or whatever! The accomplishments will overshadow many of the negative things in your life, you won’t know how you lived without training.

While functional fitness may be all the craze right now, what is more practical than being able to throw a punch, or choke someone? Cool so you can take 200 pounds and put it above your head, but can you take a bigger stronger opponent and make them go to sleep in 30 seconds? I think not. Besides all of the physical and mental benefits, MMA training has a lot of daily value from a self defense standpoint. Muay Thai, and BJJ specifically, are designed  for smaller trained person, to be able to control and subdue a bigger person with technique, and precision. Plus, how many people are in good enough shape to go more than 30 seconds in a confrontation?

Building Muscle

While you won’t get that Arnold body doing BJJ or Muay Thai Kickboxing, you will build, and tone muscles from head to toe training in every session you do. There is no chest day, leg day, arm day or whatever, there is only training. If you look at MMA fighters, they have some of the best physiques on the planet. Abs, definition, and amazing cardio. Look at your average runner. Do you want that body, of a UFC champion’s body? (Except Daniel Cormier. Sorry DC, we love you still!) While you won’t get there in a week, you will absolutely be closer doing MMA training than any other workout.
